What to do if your credit card is misplaced or stolen while on vacation...
Posted Mon, Jul 20th 2009, 11:58This was published in the Washington Post on July 19th. I thought it was awesome information and a must have for travelers:
"Stolen Goods
Credit Card 411
When Matt Cooper lost his wallet while vacationing in Croatia, his first move was to notify his credit card issuers. But finding the right phone numbers took a couple of calls home and valuable time.
In response, he created a Web site, http:/
Cooper acknowledged that the individual card Web sites also list contact numbers for various countries, but his site, which launched nine days ago, "is very simple and bare-bones," making it easier to load onto a mobile device. "You don't have to scroll through nine pages to get to the information," he said.
The 26-year-old said he plans to add numbers for other cards, including American Express, in coming weeks."
I checked the site out and it's up and running. I didn't actually check the phone numbers it lists but don't see any reason why they wouldn't be valid. Thanks, Matt for caring enough about the traveling world to post this site.
